Referred to as Angels from mythology and religion, they are considered the highest ranking beings in the universe with supernatural abilities that could only be said to be a gift from God. They're only vaguely similar to how they are described in religious mythology. The major difference is they're the complete opposite of graceful winged beings- if anything they look more demonic than anything, as many humans have misinterpreted them as. Their true purpose is greatly a mystery in modern times with the massive disconnect between the mortals and immortals, but their lack of presence is most likely for the best as messing with a higher power not many understand is extremely dangerous and could cause immense amounts of chaos.

The Angels are divided up into two categories: The First Sphere consists of the Seraphim, Cherubim and Orphanim, who are the immortal class and possess god-like abilities. They exist in a realm or place that is disconnected from the mortal realm. Where it is exactly is a bit of a mystery and too hard to explain in terms of mortal comparisons. The Angels of the First Sphere deal with the outer factors involved with the mortal realm that is out of the reaches of anyone's controls. The Second Sphere houses the Hashmallim, Malakim and Nephilim. They are considered the mortal class as the Angels who physically live within the mortal realm. They may exhibit abilities like the Angels of the First Sphere and may appear inhuman (if humanoid) but are not even close to being as powerful as their higher counterparts. Their role is greatly associated with the connection between the mortals and the immortals, but in modern times, the disconnect between the two have left the Angels of the Second Sphere almost extinct.
The Rephaim however are within a category of their own as not even there Seraphim know how to categorise them, as they lay between the reaches of mortal and immortal- dead and alive.

'THE DIVINE'
The Seraphim are the highest ranking angels, in religion they are described as being the holy firey beings that are closest to God. However, against popular belief, they themselves don't know if there is a God or a being higher than them, making some take on the belief that the Serpahim are Gods.
Each of the Seraphim are represented by a Sigil; Moon, Sun and Blood, and is used as a representation of their personality and role.  Contradictory to popular belief to being only three Seraphim, there is said to be a fourth from the essence of the Moon and Blood Sigil as a representation of Unity, however said Seraph is almost unheard of and said to be an exile for creating the Rephaim.
They appear with having completely variable forms, having the ability to form up to six arms and have six eyes to match. They're brightly coloured in retrospect to their SIgil colouration and give off an energy that looks much like fire in that colour. Mortals haven't seen them in thousands of years in the flesh, but is still possible as they are capable of forming their own physical bodies in the mortal world. They are easily identified by their 24 point halos with their represented Sigil in the middle.
Each Seraph is said to be extremely aggressive and to take caution within their presence.

'THE GUARDIANS'
The Cherubim are the second highest ranked right after the Seraphim. They act as the guards for the Seraphim and carry out any task given without second thought, usually dealing with the less favorable issues. Because of their closeness with the Seraphim, they are extremely protective and loyal towards their attributed Seraph, it's almost unheard of for them to take the word of another Seraph over their own.
Regardless of their loyalty, each Cherub is very much an individual, having very strong personalities that in one way or another reflects their attribute. Cherubs also maintain close relationships with their lower ranking, Orphanim, keeping them in line.
Appearance wise, they can have up to four arms with four eyes, sporting a 16 point halo. They aren't as brightly coloured as the Seraphs, but do have a large amount of their attributed colour on them.
They have the ability to hijack the bodies of mortals to have a physical form as they otherwise move around unseen in the mortal realm. Unlike the Seraphs, they do not have the ability to generate energy and can only manipulate the energy around them.

'THE HALF-BREEDS'
Nephilims are known as the hybrids- half human, half 'angel'. Direct hybrids from an 'Angel' and human are extremely rare and usually die before birth. For the most part, Angels have absolutley no interest in breeding with humans as Nephilims are seen as an abomination. It's also possible for an individual to become a half breed through bloodline if both sides of the family have angelic blood present.
Most, if not all, Nephilims are from Hashmallim as they're the most mortal out of the bunch. Nephilims can take traits from their angelic counter part and their halo is the same as the breed they come from. The halos however always appear to have half, if not more, of the halo missing.
